Open Dyslexia Font
Reading should be a joy — not a struggle.
That’s why my books are also available in a Dyslexia-Friendly Edition, using the OpenDyslexic Font — a specially designed typeface created to support readers with dyslexia and other reading challenges.
What Is the Open Dyslexic Font?
Open Dyslexic is a free, open-source font developed by Abelardo Gonzalez.
Each letter is designed with a heavier bottom, helping to visually anchor words to the page.
This unique design reduces the tendency for letters to flip or rotate—a common issue for dyslexic readers—and makes lines of text easier to follow.
How It Helps Readers
Improved Focus: The distinct shapes of each letter help prevent confusion between similar characters (like b and d).
Reduced Fatigue: Wider spacing and balanced letterforms make reading less tiring, even for longer periods.
Better Comprehension: Readers can move through stories more smoothly, improving flow and understanding.
Inclusive Design: It benefits not just dyslexic readers, but anyone who struggles with visual stress, focus, or reading difficulties.
Why I Chose This Font
As someone who has personally struggled with reading and writing, I know how important it is to feel comfortable and confident with a book in your hands.
The OpenDyslexic Font allows me to create editions that are inviting, supportive, and empowering — where stories are accessible to all, regardless of reading ability.
Through my dyslexia-friendly editions, my hope is to help readers of all ages rediscover the beauty of books — one page, one story, and one word at a time.
Because every mind deserves a story it can enjoy.
